Services were held at the Meadow Star United Methodist Church, rural Washta, Iowa, with the Rev. Keith Pals officiating. Burial followed in Grand Meadow Cemetery, under direction of Earnest-Michaelson Funeral Home, Kingsley, Iowa. Mr. Hodge was born February 10, 1922, in rural Washta, the son of Thomas and Edna (McQueen) Hodge. He graduated from Grand Meadow High School. He married Emma Petersen on April 6, 1947. The couple lived and farmed in the Pierson area. He was a member of Meadow Star United Methodist Church, Greater Midwest Driving Club and Senior Citizens of Pierson, where he helped deliver meals for the Senior Citizens Center. He served on the Marcus, Iowa, Community School board for eight years. He enjoyed shetland ponies and drove them in area parades. Survivors include his wife; a son, Dean of Cedar Creek, Missouri; two daughters, Colleen Hodge of Forsyth, Missouri, and Joyce and her husband, John Gokey, of New Brighton, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Tom, Peter and Elizabeth Gokey; a brother and his wife, Paul and Helen of Washta; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
