Description	:	Thomas Paul Hodge, 82, of Washta died Saturday, August 5, 2006, at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. Services were held at Meadow Star United Methodist Church in rural Washta, with the Rev. Bill Cotten officiating. Burial followed in Grand Meadow Cemetery under direction of Rohde-Earnest Funeral Home, Kingsley, Iowa. Paul was born November 19, 1923, in rural Washta, the son of Thomas and Edna (McQueen) Hodge. Burial followed in Grand Meadow Cemetery under direction of Rohde-Earnest Funeral Home, Kingsley, Iowa. Paul was born November 19, 1923, in rural Washta, the son of Thomas and Edna (McQueen) Hodge. He graduated from Grand Meadow High School in 1943, where he played basketball. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served on the USS Duffy in Guam and the Philippines. He received an honorable discharge in 1946. He married Helen Petersen April 6, 1947. The couple lived and farmed in the Grand Meadow area after their marriage. He retired from farming in 2000. He was a member of Meadow Star United Methodist Church and served on numerous church committees. He took great pride in his 59 years of marriage to Helen, his daughters and their families and his farm. Survivors include his wife, Helen of Washta; three daughters and their husbands, Rita and Gene Werthman of Pinckney, Michigan, Luann and Don Hammer of Salida, Colorado, and Connie and Christopher Montoya of Kennewick, Washington; three grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, two sisters-in-law, Emma Hodge and Garnet Hegre; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Edna Hodge; and a brother, Marlin Hodge.
