She died March 15, 1922, aged 71 years, 7 months, 15 days. She came from Wales to Youngstown, Ohio, with her parents when 2 years old. There she was united in marriage to William L. Morgan. In 1891 they came to Brown county, settled on a farm north of Hiawatha. Mrs. Morgan was a member of the Bethel Baptist church; a devoted Christian. She lived an unselfish life, was an ideal character, a beautiful mother. She was such a good companion to her children and to her many friends that their loss will be lifelong. She leaves to mourn her departure Mrs. A. P. Hazell, of Penalosa, Kans.; Mrs. Lettlie Morton, of Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Ferd Cyphers, Laz, Louie, Anna May, Ralph Morgan, of Hiawatha. Also a sister, Mrs. Lettie Lewis, of Nelsonville, Ohio. The funeral services were held at the home on 409 Oregon street, Rev. Mr. Martin officiating. The body bearers were her nephews, John Walters, Caleb Morgan, Charley and Roy Pell, George and Roy Morgan. The out-of-town people who came for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. John Morgan, I. B. Morgan, of Kansas City, David Morgan, George Morgan, Roy Morgan, of Effingham. The Brown County Cemetery List, Vol 2, {compiled by H. Lyle Hinz, 1999} lists the following: "MORGAN, Martha M. 31 JUL 1850 - 15 MAR 1922." However, Lewis Caleb Morgan's, "Morgan Genealogy," {completed Oct. 15, 1953}, states, "Martha Mathias b. Aug. 11, 1850 at Waundew, Beaufort, County of Brecon, Wales, d. Mar. 15, 1922 at Hiawatha, Kansas." ~I don't know which birthdate is correct.
