Read More	BERSCHET, Marvin W. 81, of South Charleston passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011 in his residence. He was born in Arlington Heights, IL on December 28, 1929, the son of Walter and Esther Berschet. Marv graduated from the University of Illinois, where he was a member of the 1951 "Rose Bowl" champions and was a member of the track team. He played for the Washington Redskins from 1954-1956. He served his country during the Korean War in the US Air Force and has been involved in farming most of his life. Marv was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Clark County Republican Committee, longtime member of the Board of Directors with the Oesterlen Services for Youth, Ohio Southwest NFL Alumni Association, National Livestock & Meat Board, American National Cattleman Association, Central Ohio Jazz Society, and the American Wine Society. He was a former member of the Clark County Fair Board, Ohio Beef Council, and the Southeastern School Board. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Evelyn Herzog. His survivors include his wife of 58 years Jo Roberts Berschet, whom he married August 23, 1952; five children Jennifer and Ed Klee of Versailles, KY, Beth and Tom Dunlap of Columbus, Douglas Merritt and Mistie Berschet of Granville, Eric Walter Berschet of Dublin, and Kurt Lee and Vickie Berschet of London; nine grandchildren Aaron Douglas (Christy) Klee, Meagan Beth Klee, Malory Jean Berschet, Reid Walter Berschet, Ashley Lauren ( Joe) Nicodemus, Taylor Marie, Paige Marie, Kendra Lee, and Luke Donivon Berschet.; brothers and one sister in law Walter and Mary Berschet of Sun Prairie, Wis and Robert Berschet of Sarasota, FL; sister Lorraine Hoyt of Door County, Wis. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME and one hour prior to services at the church. A celebration of his life will be Friday at 11:00AM in the First Lutheran Church with Pastor Bruce Kramer officiating. Burial to follow in Green Plains Friends Meeting (Little Brick) Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are requested to First Lutheran Church 30 S. Wittenberg Ave Springfield, Ohio 45502 or the Oesterlen Services for Youth 1918 Mechanicsburg Road Springfield, Ohio 45503-3147.
