Gordon, wife of Dr. O. W. Gordon, died at her home at Graham avenue and Tostevin street, at 8:30 o’clock last night. The deceased had been suffering from an attack of pneumonia for the past nine days. Her condition became alarming last Thursday and her children, who were out of the city, were telegraphed for and arrived before the end came. Mrs. Gordon was one of the oldest residents of Council bluffs, coming here in 1852 with her parents. Her maiden names was Mary C. Williams, and for many years she was the reigning belle of the city. Her beauty of face and character was not dimmed by age. She was born at Lexington, Mo., Feb. 8, 1846, and was 50 years old at the time of her death. As a worker in church and charitable enterprises she was known throughout the state and was one of the leading organizers of the W. C. T. U., being the president of the local branch of the society, she was also a member of the woman’s Relief Corps. Woman’s Christian association and P. E. O. Her work in the Broadway Methodist church endeared her to the entire congregation. Mrs. Gordon was married twice, her first husband being Thomas A. Walker, one of the most promient citizens of Council Bluffs twenty years ago. He was an extensive real estate dealer and capitalist and was at one time estimated to be worth $2,000,000. He was the builder of the great bridge at St. Louis. She married Dr. Gordon about twelve years ago. Her husband and six children survive her. They are Edward, Bird, Brown and Archibald Walker. Deborah and Luther Gordon. Three of the her children were away from home when she was taken sick, but they all arrived in time. Her sister, Mrs. J. A. Adams, and her husband, are expected from Denver today.
