Obituary Wise—Mrs. Mollie E. Wise was born at Dayton, Ohio, Dec. 22, 1859, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Tom Cornelison, near Reserve Wednesday morning, Nov. 10, 1937. She was the daughter of Joseph C., Dorcas S. Gafford, a member of a large family of 11 children, 5 of her brothers being doctors of medicine. After coming to Kansas with her parents she was united in marriage to Albert G. Wise, to this union there were 9 children, 3 daughters, one son preceding her in death. When a young girl she united with the Methodist church, after her marriage, she with her husband united with the Christian church of Reserve of which for many years she was active, honored member until moving to Hiawatha about 14 years ago when she transferred her membership to the Christian church of Hiawatha of which she was a member at the time of her death. Mrs. Wise had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Tom Cornelison, for the past 5½ years being confined to her bed nearly 8 months, always patient, sweet in disposition, appreciative of every thing done for her comfort, every courtesy shown her always had a kind word, a "Thank you." She was known, loved as one of the fine christian characters of the communities in which she lived, giving a life of real service in the name of her master. Those of her children who survive are, Walter Wise, Orville, Calif.; Mrs. Tom Cornelison, Reserve, Kans.; Mrs. Hiram Nott, Falls City; Mrs. Morris Jones, Rulo, Nebr.; Mrs. Leroy Walters, Hiawatha; 2 brothers, Dr. Chas. Gafford, Wymore, Nebr.; Dr. James Gafford, Huntington Park, Calif. The service was held from the Meek chapel Friday, Nov. 12, 1937 at 3 o'clock, conducted by Rev. L. L. Hassenpflug. "In the Garden," "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," were sung by Chester Jones with Mrs. Chester Jones at the piano. The bodybearers were Chester G. Jones, Robert M. Cornelison, Rev. Roy Nible, Sabetha, Milford Rutland, Lawrence Sherrer, Horton, M. L. Simpson, Reserve. Burial in Mt. Hope cemetery. —The Hiawatha Daily World (Hiawatha, KS) Sat. Nov 13, 1937, p.3.
