Description	:	DEATHS. McKnight—Mrs. Mary McKnight, widow of the late J. P. McKnight, Sr., died Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 11 o'clock, at her home, 601 North Third street. If Mrs. McKnight had lived until Jan. 31, she would have been 81 years old. She was one of Brown countys grand old ladies. She was mother of 12 children, 9 of whom survive. There was a strange but happy incident last Sunday when all her children visited her home, first time in 14 years, second in 31 years. McKnight, Sr., died Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 11 o'clock, at her home, 601 North Third street. If Mrs. McKnight had lived until Jan. 31, she would have been 81 years old. She was one of Brown countys grand old ladies. She was mother of 12 children, 9 of whom survive. There was a strange but happy incident last Sunday when all her children visited her home, first time in 14 years, second in 31 years. Mrs. McKnight knew all of them, gave them that same glad welcome she always showed at the home-coming of her sons and daughters. Mrs. McKnight was born in Cumberland county, Pa., Jan. 31, 1841. In 1856 her parents moved to Illinois where they resided until 1870, when they came to Kansas. For 20 years the McKnight family lived on a farm in Brown county. Here the children grew to man and womanhood. It was 31 years ago when Mr. McKnight moved to Hiawatha. He became postmaster at that time. Sept. 18, 1917, Mr. McKnight passed to his reward. Mrs. McKnight had resided in Brown county almost 52 years. The following children were born to Mr. and Mrs. McKnight: Lowry, Corine M., Henrietta, deceased; George C., John P., Roscoe, Hiawatha; W. S. McKnight, Axtell; W. E. McKnight, Sabetha; T. E. McKnight, Auburn; Mrs. Paul Fouke, Billings, Mont.; Mrs. A. H. Winters, Topeka; C. F. McKnight, Kansas City. Mrs. McKnight was a member of the Methodist church, greatly beloved by everybody who knew her. She was a woman who was prompted by the highest moral purpose and ideals, ever generous to a fault. In spite of her advanced age, Mrs. McKnight kept her sweet and cheerful disposition. Even to the very last days of her life she reflected humor, was always happy when she made others smile. Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 4, at 2 o'clock from the McKnight home, Rev. E. T. Rice officiating.
