Mother of Martha Ann Hargesheimer, Thomas William Wesley, Frederic Lilburn, Jacob Edward, Charles Harvey, Ora Jackson, Clara Luellen Hartman, Carrie Cordelia Turley, Francis Wilhemina Graham, John Lilburn and GRover Cleveland. Mary Jane McGlothlen, daughter of J.W. and Nancy Meenach, was born in Aurora, Dearborn county, Indiana, on September 18, 1846, and died at her home three miles south of Ottumwa on Wednesday morning, December 21, 1921. She came to Iowa with her parents in 186?, settling at Eddyville, where on August 4, 1867, she was happily married to J.L. McGlothlen. To this union were born eleven children, nine of whom survive her. They are Mrs. P.A. Hargresheimer and Mrs. H.M. Graham of Ottumwa; Mrs. C.H. Hartman and Mrs. G.E. Turbey of Ellensburg, Washington; Edward and Charley of Monroe, Washington; Wm. W. of Roosevelt, Minnesota; and John L. of Ft. Madison. Two sons preceded her in death, Frederick who died on October 3, 1872, and Ora J. who died February 4, 1884. Mrs. McGlothlen was a faithful and consistent member of Willard Street Methodist church. She was a devoted mother, a faithful wife and a good neighbor. She was a lover of her home and family and her greatest happiness was in making them comfortable and happy. She will be greatly missed by her aged husband, her children and relatives and a large circle of friend's. The funeral was held Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock, December 23, at the Willard Street M.E. church, conducted., by the Rev. E.J. Shook, her former pastor. Interment was made at Highland cemetery near Eddyville.
