Description	:	Mary was born to Cornelius and Maria Hoeppner Loewen on September 28, 1918 at Littlefield, Texas. She left for her heavenly home on May 29, 2017 in the quiet early morning, reaching the full age of 98 years, 8 months. She left for her heavenly home on May 29, 2017 in the quiet early morning, reaching the full age of 98 years, 8 months. Her last two years were spent at Grace Home in Livingston, California, where she received very loving care. Her early life was filled with losses. She was the second child of Cornelius Loewen, joining her half brother Jake, whose mother had died. When Mary was 21 months old, her mother passed away. Fifteen months later her sister Frieda died. Mary’s father married for the third time, taking Anna Marie Penner Spence as his wife. Her four children, Catherine, Marie, Harry, and Jack joined the family. Later two more children were born, Dick and Annie, completing the Cornelius Loewen family. Mom remembered the big move from Texas in 1923. They camped along the way to California, which became their new home. She had a new birth experience and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, by Minister Frank Wenger on November 20, 1932, and was faithful to God until the end. She was a prayer warrior; praying for all her family, the ministry, and those that came to her mind, especially at night when she couldn’t sleep. She married David L. Giesbrecht on October 9, 1938 at Winton California. When Dad was ordained to the deaconry on April 22, 1946, Mom faithfully supported him in the work of this calling. In 1951, after living at Winton for 13 years, they and their six sons were the fifth family to move to the new congregation at Glenn California. Another son and daughter were born there, making a family of eight children. Our dad passed away on August 8, 1983, leaving mom a widow for 34 years. Our parents were very hospitable, preparing on Saturday so they could invite anyone that needed a place for Sunday dinner. Others were often included in holiday family gatherings. We appreciate their example of unselfishness. God blessed her with 33 grandchildren, 117 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren. Mom opened her arms wide to welcome them into her heart and home. The grandchildren love to reminisce about her cooking, singing, fishing, playing games, and Christmas gatherings where she had a gift for everyone, even unexpected guests. Left with many memories are 7 sons, Jesse and Arlene, Glenn CA; Ervy and Karen, DeRidder LA; Raymond and Melba, Glenn CA; David and Janet, Glenn CA; James and Lena Rose, Bruneau, ID; Harry and Doris, Glenn CA; Walter and Beth, Othello WA; one daughter, Annie and Rodney G. Koehn, Lobelville TN. One sister-in-law, Agnes Loewen, Sun City AZ; and one brother-in-law, Walter Ensz, Louisville GA. Preceding her in death, are her husband, David; two grandsons, Ronald and Charles Giesbrecht; and all of her siblings. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 2, at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, 2026 Hwy 45 Glenn CA. There will be a viewing Thursday evening at the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite from 4-7 p.m.
