Description	:	Dick Loewen was born in Littlefield, Texas to Cornelius G.and Anna Marie (Penner) Loewen. When he was 2 years old, the family moved to Winton, CA. On April 11, 1943 he married Alice Dyck in Hillsboro, Kansas. Alice was a daughter of David and Anna (Heppner) Dyck. Dick and Alice had 3 sets of twins while living in Winton. He died in a hospital in Chico. Obit from Messenger of Truth Issue 21, 1997: Cornelius Dick Loewen was born to Cornelius G. and Annie Penner Loewen on October 5, 1921, at Littlefield, Texas. He left us on September 16, 1997, at Chico, California, after a long fight against the devastating effects of myasthenia gravis. At the age of two he moved with his parents to Winton, California. Here he grew up and went to school. Dad gave his heart to the Lord, and he was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, on April 27, 1938. He adhered to this faith to the end. Dad married our mother, Alice Dyck Loewen, on April 11, 1943. Their home was filled with children in a few years. First came three sets of twins, followed by four more children arriving singly. We remember him as a faithful and loving husband and father. In December, 1951, our family became a part of the new congregation at Glenn, California. Our father worked hard to get started in this community. In 1956, Dad was ordained to the gospel ministry by Min. F. H. Wenger. He served faithfully for many years. He loved the harvest of souls and the kingdom of God. In return he was beloved as a pastor by the congregation. We treasure the memory of many beautiful visits about heavenly things. He leaves us with an assurance of salvation, a testimony of God's wonderful grace in Jesus Christ. Father leaves: his beloved wife, Alice; sons: Leonard, Paul and Vicki, Roland and Teresa, Ronald and Dolores, Howard and Elsie, and Jesse and Pamela; daughter-in-law Ruth Loewen; daughters: Ruth and Robert Koehn, Edith and Harold Eck of Buhl, Idaho, and Salome and Chuck Grijalva; sister Mary Giesbrecht; brother Jake and Agnes Loewen of Sun City, Arizona; brother-in-law Walt and Mabel Ensz of Louisville, Georgia; sisters-in-law Leona Spence and Susan Spence; forty-eight grandchildren and thirty-three great-grandchildren, and many dear nephews, nieces, and friends. Those preceding him in death include one son, two infant grandsons, his parents, two brothers, and four sisters. Funeral services were held on September 20, 1997, at the Glenn Mennonite Church, Glenn, California. Ministers Leslie Amoth and David Spence officiated.
