Description	:	Mary Lorene Collins passed away peacefully on Friday August 28, 2021, at Carrington Place in Wytheville, VA at the age of 94. Lorene was born in Sparta, NC on March 6, 1927, to the late Rob and Lillie Hendrix. She was preceded in death by her husband Grayson H Collins, sisters Irene Shaver (222816294) and Blanche Evans, Brothers-In-Law M.C. Shaver, Jr. and Paul Evans and Daughter-In-Law Pattie Collins. Read More	Mary Lorene Collins passed away peacefully on Friday August 28, 2021, at Carrington Place in Wytheville, VA at the age of 94. Lorene was born in Sparta, NC on March 6, 1927, to the late Rob and Lillie Hendrix. She was preceded in death by her husband Grayson H Collins, sisters Irene Shaver (222816294) and Blanche Evans, Brothers-In-Law M.C. Shaver, Jr. and Paul Evans and Daughter-In-Law Pattie Collins. She graduated from Alleghany High School in Sparta, NC and attended cosmetology school in North Wilkesboro, NC. She was self-employed as a cosmologist for 60 plus years and served many customers over the years in her home beauty shop. Together Lorene and twin sister, Irene Shaver, owned and operated the L&I Fabric Shop on Main Street in Independence, VA for several years. She also volunteered with many local service organizations for fundraisers and community services activities i.e. Independence Rescue Squad, Independence Ladies Auxiliary, Independence High School, many local churches and community events. She was a long time member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Independence Va. where she taught youth Sunday school and participated in many church meals and celebrations. Survivors include; son Jeff Collins and wife Tami from Wytheville VA, son Dennis Collins and wife Jennifer from Midlothian, VA. Grandchildren: Brittany Collins, Tad Collins, Tyler and Emily Collins Hazekamp, Rebecca Collins and many beloved nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend the service and interment at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Independence, VA on Saturday, September 4, 2021.
