Adams, died at 9:40 p.m. Friday, April 20, 1990, at the Jefferson County Hospital. She was born June 17, 1900, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Scott and Eliza Williams McCormick. She married Ray I. McWhirter on Sept. 28, 1922 in Fairfield. He died Jan. 29, 1963. McWhirter lived her entire life in Jefferson County, wherre she was a homemaker and a rural school teacher. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Bradshaw Helping Hand Club. She is survived by three sons: Wilbur,of Birmingham, Rodger, of Burlington, and Edward, of Batavia; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and a sister, Florence Liblin of Fairfield. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, three sisters and two brothers. Funeral services for McWhirter will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Bonifacio Mequi officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be 7-8 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be left to the First United Methodist Church and the Jefferson County Hospital Lifeline program.
