She had been in declining health for the past several months and gradually failed until death relieved her. Miss Mary Rains was born in Highland County, Ohio, September 2, 1829, and was therefore 83 years, 8 months, and 20 days old at the time of her death. MARY MARSH DEAD Mrs. Mary Marsh died at the home of her son, Joseph Marsh, in Nodaway, Friday, May 23, 1913, of complication of diseases, or old age. She had been in declining health for the past several months and gradually failed until death relieved her. Miss Mary Rains was born in Highland County, Ohio, September 2, 1829, and was therefore 83 years, 8 months, and 20 days old at the time of her death. She was united in marriage to John Marsh, April 30, 1851, in Allen County, Ohio. To this union eleven children were born, six died in early childhood and two in maturity. The husband preceded her to the grave nine years ago. The three surviving children are Joe March of Nodaway, Mrs. Emma Marsh of Villisca, and Clarence Marsh of Longmont, Colorado. In the year of 1870, Mr. and Mrs. Marsh, with their family, came to Iowa and located on a farm in Adams County, north of Nodaway, where they lived for a little over twenty years and then moved to Nodaway about 22 years ago, until their death. Mrs. Marsh or “Aunt Mary” as she was known by all in Nodaway, was a type of womanhood that makes the world better for their having lived in it. She was an affectionate mother, ever ready and taking a delight in administering to the wants of her children and grandchildren. She was a kind and obliging neighbor and respected by all. When strangers moved to town, she was one of the first to make their acquaintance, a pleasure which was always appreciated by the new comer. Her hospitable ways and cordiality were, no doubt, cultivated when she came here, when the country was new and neighbors few. Mrs. Marsh had been a member of the Presbyterian Church for the past 18 years. She was an active member of the W.R.C. of Nodaway and had held the office of Chaplain in that order for more than 20 years. The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church in Nodaway Sunday afternoon at half past two o’clock by Rev. J. K. Driver, pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Red Oak, assisted by Rev.
