She had been a resident of Jackson county for the past 45 years and was a member of the Methodist church in Holton. FROM A HOLTON PAPER: Maude Malinda Baxter, 66 years, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Baxter, of Circleville, Kans., was born July 16, 1883, on a farm near Circleville, and passed away on Saturday, April 8, 1950, at Holton. She spent her childhood on this farm and received her education in the Circleville school. In her early girlhood she gave her heart to Jesus and united with the Christian church of Circleville, later on moving to Holton, she transferred her membership to the Methodist church here in Holton, where she remained a constant and faithful member until her death. On June 27, 1900, she was united in marriage to Harland Bailey. To this union were born two daughters, Mrs. Iris Hamm, and Mrs. Opal Martin. Her husband preceded her in death on November 5, 1941. She leaves to mourn her passing, her two daughters, Mrs. Chester Hamm, of Topeka. and Mrs. Paul Martin, Mayetta; two sisters, Mrs. C.J. Hill and Mrs. Harry Satterfield, both of Topeka. Two brothers, Elmer E. Baxter and Emmett Baxter of Circleville. Eleven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 2:30 Sunday afternoon at the Mercer Funeral Home. Music was furnished by Don Shelby and Mrs. Henry Knouft. Rev. Travis Siever, officiating. Pallbearers were Otis Duffy, Frank Davis, O.B. Clemetson, Morris Lytle, V.A. Johnson, and Clarence Hogg. Burial was in the Holton cemetery.
