Read More	Wednesday, July 26, 1933 the earthly pilgrimage of Mrs. Minnie Versaw came to the end. It marked the end of a life on this side of eternity that has touched more lives and been a greater blessing than we will be able to record in this obituary, for when one has lived as Mrs. Versaw, eternity only can reveal what such a life has meant to her fellowman among whom she has lived. Minnie A. Cook, only child of Edward and Mary (Brooks) Cook, was born at Helena, NE, September 23, 1872. As her mother died at this, the birth of her only child, she spent her early childhood at the home of her grandfather, Andrew Cook at Tecumseh, NE. Her later childhood was spent with her father and stepmother. From this home she attended school at Nebraska City and Peru. She was married to Frederick F. Versaw at Cook, NE February 12, 1891, and in a beautiful manner these two devoted their lives to their home and to the friends and neighbors, and together shared intimately life's joys and sorrows and served their God according to the leading of his spirit. Five children were born into this home, to whom she gave all that a mother's love can give. All of them survive their mother. Mr. and Mrs. Versaw, after their marriage, made their home at Cook on a farm until in August 1900, when they established their home on a farm north of Bloomington. Wishing to benefit their children by the school facilities at Franklin, they moved to the present home northwest of Franklin. When Mrs. Versaw was called from the scenes of this life she had reached the age of 60 years, 10 months, and 3 days. She leaves to mourn her departure her devoted husband, five children who are: Paul of Beaver City, NE; Herbert, Center, CO; William and Mrs. Marian Thompson of Franklin, and Mrs. Mary Jensby of Hardy. She also leaves 13 grandchildren, three half brothers and four half sisters and many distant relatives and friends who found in her a friend, faithful and true and share with her family the feeling of a great loss while we continue our journey in this life. Mrs. Versaw had a firm faith in God and therefore united with others who shared this faith with her and became a member of the Methodist church at Tecumseh while marking her home with her grandfather, and has continued her membership with this church wherever she has been from that time. In every community where she has lived her Christian character has been admired by all and there remains a definite impress of her Christian labor. It is without a doubt the testimony of all who knew her that she knew how to live well and certainly knew how to die well. She has been in very poor health the last two years or more and the last seven months has gone through intense suffering and pain. But Mrs. Versaw was a citizen of another Kingdom and seemed to posses that rare ability to live apart from her pain and anguish and she was always happy, and to the last when she could not speak much, had her accustomed smile for her friends. The most familiar words and almost the last words that this writer remembers hearing from her lips were not words of complaining about her intense suffering, but were words of cheer. "I have a perfect understanding with my Lord and I am happier now than I ever have been." Her circle of friends was large. She labored not only in the church but also kindred organizations, such as the WCTU, Woman's Club, and other organizations. Wherever she shed her influence we feel the keen sense of loss at her parting. Yet we rejoice in the victory of the christian faith over death and the after-glow of her life casts an influence upon us that we can not do otherwise in this hour but keep the faith which made her life so triumphant, even in death. Perhaps we can express our sentiments best in the words of the poet: "Life is rest, life is earnest and the grave is not its goal, Dust thou art, to dust returns, Was not spoken of the soul. " Though we shall carry her body out to the silent city of the dead, where dust shall return to dust, yet the soul of this good woman lives, and according to the promises of the Master it shall live on and on in the Kingdom of Heaven, in a house not made with human hands and some day when the veil of this mortal life is lifted we shall be united with her again and in that blessed union we shall part nevermore. ------------------
