Read More	BRONSON PILOT OR UNIONTOWN CICERONE April 20, 1934 Obituary--Mrs. Henry Nichols The funeral of Mrs. Henry Nichols was held at the Methodist Church in Uniontown Monday afternoon, April 16, at 2:30. Mrs. Nichols lived all her life in Bronson and Uniontown and vicinity with the exception of a few months spent east of Fort Scott at the home of her son, David R. Nichols, where she went after the death of her daughter, Mrs. Oma Bayless with whom she made her home. Many relatives, old friends and neighbors came to pay their last respects to the deceased until the church was well filled. Among the many beautiful flowers expressing love and sympathy, were pieces from her children, grand children, great grand children, sisters and brother, O.E.S., church organizations, R.N.A., and personal to ens. The services were conducted by Rev. Rector Green and, by request he took for his text Mark 8-36. Miss Leola Cowan, Rev. and Mrs. Green and John Hartman, accompanied by Mrs. Blanche Johnson, sang "Asleep in Jesus" and "Going Down the Valley." "Sunrise" was a beautiful duet sung by Rev. and Mrs. Green. The members of Bronson and Mary A. Hepler O.E.S. attended in a body and the beautiful and impressive funeral service of the order was given at the grave by Bronson Chapter with Mrs. F.B. Kendall as W.M. and Supt. D.R. Lidikay as W.P. The pall bearers were Everett Nichols, Clifford Joyce, Odie Pool, Ray Beaman, Ermel Ralston and Pearl Pool. The following obituary was read-- Nancy Elvira Ralston daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David T. Ralston was born June 14th at Springfield, Mo. and departed this life April 14th 1934 at the age of 80 years and 10 months. She moved to Uniontown with her parents at the age of 2 years and grew to womanhood near Uniontown. She was united in marriage to Henry Nichols December 29th, 1869 who departed this life February 11th, 1928 having celebrated their fifty ninth wedding anniversary. To this union were born five sons and four daughters. Those left to mourn her mothers kindness are Thomas Sylvester of Stultz, Mo., David R. of Fort Scott, Kansas, Elmer Elsworth of Iola, Kansas; two aged sisters, Mrs. Margaret Nichols and Mrs. Mary Mason of Uniontown, Kansas, one half sister, Mrs. May Drake of Uniontown, Kansas. Two half brothers, Grant Ralston, Uniontown and Elmer Ralston, Washington; Thirteen grandchildren and seven great grand-children. Mrs. Nichols was a member of the Methodist church having lived a devoted Christian life from girl-hood. She was also a member of Bronson Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. ----A friend *********************** ELLA NICHOLS RITES Large Crowd Attends Services at Uniontown Church The Methodist church at Uniontown was filled with sorrowing neighbors and friends yesterday afternoon when they met to pay their last respects to Mrs. Ella Nichols. Rev. Rector Green conducted the funeral services, reading the Scripture "A thousand years were as yesterday" and "Let not your heart be troubled---." He spoke words of comfort to the relatives from the text, "What shall it profit a man if he gain the whole world and lose his own soul." A quartette composed of Rev. and Mrs. Green, Leola Cowan and John Hartman, with Mrs. Blanche Johnson playing sang "Asleep in Jesus" and "Going Down the Valley"; with Rev. and Mrs. Gren singing "Sunrise Tomorrow." Elvira Ralston was born near Springfield, Mo., June 14, 1853, and passed away at the home of her sister, Mrs. Maggie Nichols, March 14, 1934, at the age of 80 years. At the age of 2 years she came with her parents from Missouri to Bourbon county, Kan., and moved to the old Ralston homestead, a few miles southwest of town. She has lived in this vicinity ever since and was one of the early pioneers. In 1869 she was married to Henry Nichols, who passed away several years ago. Five sons and two daughters were born to this union. Two sons and one daughter passed away many years ago and the other daughter, Mrs. C.W. Bayless passed away recently. Three sons survive: Tom Sylvester of Missouri; R. of near Fort Scott, and Elmer of Iola. Thirteen grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Nichols was a sweet, unassuming woman, always kind and patient and thoughtful of others. She was a wonderful mother, a true, loving sister, a faithful, sympathetic friend and neighbor, and was devoted to her home and church. She was the youngest of the three sisters; Mrs. Mary Mason, 85, and Mrs. Maggie Nichols, 83. The three sisters were much attached and devoted to each other, and the circle is now broken. The casket was surrounded by an array of beautiful flowers, a lovely family bloc, the pretty Eastern Star emblem, spray from R.N.A., Bourbon Lodge 117, I.O.O.F., M.E. church and Sunday school, and many tokens of respect from relatives and friends. She was a life member of the Bronson O.E.S. and that chapter attended in a body and gave the impressive burial services at the grave. The pallbearers were Elmer Ralston, Clifford Joyce, Ray Beaman, Pearl Pool, Odie Pool and Everett Nichols. Interment was in the Hatch cemetery. ***********************
