Goldsborough, died at her home here Friday of last week, after a lengthy illness. She was 98 years of age. Mrs. Goldsborough was the daughter of the late David M. and Julia A. Nelson and the widow of the late Charles Goldsborough. She had been an active woman, even after she had passed the 90-year mark, a devoted wife and mother, and was a fine friend, a good neighbor. In her long life she had witnessed many changes in the community, had made warm friends and seen them reach the autumn of life and then pass on to their reward. She liked young people and they enjoyed her company. She tried to do something every day to help someone else. She was kind and generous and loving. And while she worked hard in her home, rearing and caring for her family, it was work she loved to do and she seemed to be strengthened by it. Mrs. Goldsborough was a member of Asbury Methodist Church, where she played an active part for many years, but the Christian spirit that guided her through her long life was best exemplified in her daily acts, of compassion, of help, of mercy. She had been privileged to remain here longer than most people live, she had seen good times and bad times, and the will to achieve was strong with her until age at last circumscribed her activities just a few short years ago. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the Hinman Funeral Home here, conducted by the Rev. Walter Beckwith, pastor of Asbury Methodist Church. Burial was in the Nelson Family Cemetery. Surviving her are four daughters, Mrs. Mary Frances Pruitt, Mrs. Rena Evans and Mrs. Audrey Rayfield, all of Crisfield, and Mrs. Marne Powell of Salisbury; one son, Charles Goldsborough of this city; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
