WILSON, NELLIE MAE—Nellie Mae Wilson was born to Jacob Krist and Johanna Schneider Kirst on July 22, 1882, at Geneva and passed away on January 1, 1979, at Fillmore County hospital at Geneva at the age of 96 years, 5 months and 10 days. She was one of 11 children in the family. She was raised on a farm east of Geneva and received her education in rural school District No. 68. She was married to Harmon Wilson of Geneva on March 2, 1904, and to them nine children were born. After their marriage, they lived in Wood River, Neb., for a short time. In 1910, they moved to a farm east of Geneva, where they resided until Harmon’s death in 1939. She then made her home in Geneva until about 5 years ago when she entered Bethesda Care Center at Exeter. She enjoyed making quilts and doing needlework of all kinds. Many hours were spent working with her plants and flowers. Gardening and canning also gave her many hours of enjoyment. Her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, three sons, two daughters two brothers, five sisters and one great-granddaughter. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Joe (Opal) Sladek of Exeter, Mrs. T. J. (Esther) Widick of Lake Elsmore, Cal., Mrs. Cecil (Jeannette) Baker of Orange Cal., and Mrs. Art (Mildred) Miller of Omaha; two sisters, Mrs. John (Flossie) Knox of Clay Center and Mrs. Anna Brower of Geneva; one brother Elmer Kirst of Lodi, Cal.; several nieces and nephews and by 17 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer & Son funeral home at Geneva at 2 p.m., Thursday, January 4, 1979, with Rev. Jay R. Funk, officiating. Mrs. Alvin Rizer sang “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere” and “Beyond the Sunset” with Mrs. Norval Lomax at the organ. Pallbearers were Tom Gilwa, Rolland Knox, Wayne Miller, Kenneth Slagel, David Svehla and Leslie R. Wilson. Interment was in the Geneva public cemetery. The Nebraska Signal January 1979
