Upon further review a/o February 2, 2016, the middle initial was misread, and should be "I". Further, per Noble's WWI draft registration card entry, the full middle name was Isaac. Also, although the obituary listed the name as "Noble Kiger, Sr.", the "Sr." designation is not found on the headstone inscription and is being left off this memorial name for that reason. Married to Nora B. Cox Kiger on January 31, 1900 and divorced on Nov. 6, 1920 in Jefferson county, Iowa. Married to Helen M Buerkens Kiger on January 26, 1928. Her obituary in 1966 inadvertently listed the first name of her husband as "Nobe" instead of "Noble". ------------------- Fairfield Daily Ledger August 30, 1972 Pg. 10 Col. 3 Noble Kiger, 97, Taken In Death, Rites Friday Noble Kiger, Sr. 97, one of Fairfield's oldest residents, died at 5:45 p.m. Tuesdayat the Jefferson County Hospital where he had been admitted at 9:55 a.m. the same day. Last rites will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Ned Gillum officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Noble Kiger was born Nov. 21, 1874, in Clark County, Ohio, the son of Moses and Eliza Belle Hunter Kiger. The family moved to Round Prairie Township and settled near Glasgow when Noble Kiger was ten years old. He was reared and educated in the Glasgow Community. Kiger served ten years as steward at the Jefferson County Home prior to his retirement. Before that he had served as an assistant at the County Home for many years. He was married to Helen May Buerkins Jan. 26, 1928, at Fort Madison. She died Dec. 31, 1966. For many years the family home was at 402 W. Fillmore. For the past four years he had made his home with his nephew and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Noble Kiger, Jr., 105 W. Hempstead. Noble Kiger, Sr., was the oldest member of B.P.O. Elks in Fairfield. Survivors include two nieces and one nephew with whom he made his home. He then preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
