Burial was at the Highland cemetery in Havre. Obert was born on June 16, 1913 at Gildford, Mont., the son of Ole and Lena (Berge) Sanivik. He later moved with his family to Havre, Harlem and finally to Rudyard. He graduated from the Rudyard High School in 1933. He worked with his father and brother Selmer in the Sanvik store in Rudyard for several years. In 1934 in Great Falls he married the former Alice Kenfield. The couple started farming in the Grassy Butte area north of Inverness in 1934. After retiring from farming in 1975, the couple spent several winters in Arizona and moved to Hot Springs in 1980. Obert enjoyed fishing, rug hooking, carpenter work, sports of all kinds, and spent many pleasant hours reading, watching television and visiting with his friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter. Darla Sanvik, one brother Orris and one sister Agnes. He is survived by his wife, Alice Sanvik of Hot Springs; two brothers Selmer Sanvik of Rudyard, and Robert Sanvik of Mesa, Arizona; one sister, Lillian DeMartin of Rudyard and Norma LaFrance of Kalispell; also numerous nieces and nephews.
