Description	:	Injuries suffered in an accident in the Union Pacific yards here Friday at 4:30pm was followed by the death of Orville James Hogan, 44, 900 Alston Street, Monday in Kansas City, MO. A railroad investigation up to yesterday showed that after the Union Pacific freight had arrived from Bestwall Georgia-Pacific plant, the engine had been taken off the freight and was headed for the roundhouse. A railroad investigation up to yesterday showed that after the Union Pacific freight had arrived from Bestwall Georgia-Pacific plant, the engine had been taken off the freight and was headed for the roundhouse. Hogan was last seen walking alongside the engine. Moments later apparently he was struck or stepped into the front end of the locomotive. The front steps and cowcatcher of the locomotive were said to have crushed muscles in his legs. He was taken to Community Memorial hospital after the accident, and Monday was transferred to St. Mary's hospital, Kansas City. An autopsy was performed and a report was pending here yesterday. Funeral services will be held today at 10 am at St. Gregory's Catholic church, with Father Patrick Hogan, his brother officiating. Burial will be in St. Gregory's Catholic cemetery with military graveside rites by SMN & R., American Legion post. Recitation of the rosary was held at 7:30 last evening at Kinsley's. Pallbearers are Jerry Barnard, Don Scheele, Chas. Ring, Orval Oehm, Harold Funk, Peter DeGiovanni. The son of James J. Hogan and Florence Rombeck Hogan, he was born August 29, 1929 at Marysville. He served in the 320th Artillery of the 508 Airborne brigade at Fort Benning, GA from May 1951 to May 1953. He was a member of St. Gregory's Catholic church, American Legion Post S.M.N. & R. and the Union Pacific Junior Old Timers club. He married to Viola Labbe, March 28, 1951 and they were parents of a daughter, Deborah. He is survived by his widow of the home, his daughter, Deborah, brothers, Father Patrick Hogan, Eudora, Francis and Michael Hogan, Marysville, and Clarence Hogan, Fort Bragg, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Rose, Mrs. Eddie Henderson.
