Description	:	Patrick was the son of Michael Casey and his wife, Margaret (McKeown) Casey. He was born on April 10, 1863, in Harrison County, West Virginia, during the Civil War. Michael Casey immigrated to the United States from Ireland in 1841. Margaret McKeown, born in the U.S. in 1835, was the daughter of Patrick McKeown, an immigrant from County Antrim, Ireland, and Mary {Curry) McKeown. Read More	Patrick was the son of Michael Casey and his wife, Margaret (McKeown) Casey. He was born on April 10, 1863, in Harrison County, West Virginia, during the Civil War. Michael Casey immigrated to the United States from Ireland in 1841. Margaret McKeown, born in the U.S. in 1835, was the daughter of Patrick McKeown, an immigrant from County Antrim, Ireland, and Mary {Curry) McKeown. The 1870 U.S. Census listed the family as residents of Tenmile Township in Harrison County, WV. Patrick was seven years old, and while his older brothers John and James were listed as schoolboys, Patrick had not yet begun his school days. The Census listed the birthplace of the older boys and their mother as Virginia, while Patrick's birthplace was listed as West Virginia, as was his younger sister Mary's. At that time, Michael was a farmer, though family lore indicates that Michael had been hired by the B&O Railroad to build a railroad spur from Cumberland, MD, to Parkersburg, WV, shortly after his arrival in the United States. Michael turned to farming after an injury suffered while working on the railroad. The family grew to include five children by the date of the 1880 U.S. Census, all of whom were living at the family home in Tenmile. By that date, Patrick's older brothers were selling dry goods and clothing, and Patrick, age 15, was a farm laborer. He and his two younger sisters, Mary and Annie, were attending school during the Census year of 1880. By the date of the 1900 U.S. Census, Patrick's parents had died and he and his sister were living together in their own home in the town of Salem, WV. Neither would ever marry. Patrick worked as a merchant in a grocery store, a profession that was indicated as well in the 1910 and 1920 U.S. Census. As of the 1930 U.S. Census, Patrick and his younger sister Annie were still living at their home on Liberty Street in Salem, but Patrick was no longer working. Patrick died at the age of 70 in November 1933 and is buried in the Copley Cemetery. His death certificate indicates the cause of death as "Paralysis Agitans" which he had suffered from since 1923 and which today is known as Parkinson's Disease.
