Peter's obituary in the Free Press Standard, Carrollton, Ohio, Thursday, January 25, 1912. Peter Miller, who was born August 12, 1823, in Loudon Twp., died January 19, 1912, and was buried Sunday at Simmons Ridge. The services were held the day before in the home of his son, Elmer Miller, by his pastor, Rev. A. S. Peregoy. Mr. Miller lived in Loudon Twp. until about 25 years ago, when he moved to Union Twp. For the past 8 years he made his home with his son Elmer. About 2 years ago Mr. Miller fell, injuring his hip, and from that time was bedfast. Pneumonia developed about a week ago, causing his death. He was married in 1848 to Mary Harding at Kilgore, and to them were born 10 children, seven of whom survive; Elmer, of Union Twp., Robert and Mrs. Angeline Murrell, of Loudon Twp., Mrs. Jennie Bowers, of Bowerston; Mrs. Almira Slates, of Jewett; Mrs. Mary Tedrow, of Cadiz Junction; J. W. Miller, of Salt Lake City, Utah. There are living 13 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Miller died about 30 years ago. Mr. Miller served several months during the civil war, being a member of Co. E, 186 Ohio Volunteer Infantry Regiment.
