| Description | : | Peter McLaren, son of Peter McLaren and Janet Headrick, was born October 18, 1813 in Breadalbane, Perthshire, Scotland. In 1820 he emigrated with his parents to Lanark, Ontario, Canada. (The cemetery headstone is in error saying he emigrated in 1821.) In Lanark he married Janet Stewart on May 1, 1841. He was known as "Big Peter," to distinguish him from his first cousin "Little Peter" McLaren, who was born in 1818, lived on the farm next door, and is also buried in Lanark Village Cemetery. Big Peter and his wife raised four children. |
