When three years of age her parents moved to Cayuga county, N. Y. Her parents being poor, her early life was spent in helping to make a living for a large family of brothers and sisters. She was married to Mr. Josiah White February 7, 1849, emigrated to Rockford township, Ill., in 1851, removed from there with an ox team to Osage, Mitchell county, Iowa, in 1857, where they made their home for about fourteen years, when they pushed on westward to Seward Co., Neb., where they settled on a homestead of 80 acres. In 1887 they emigrated to Philips Co. Kansas, and from there to Merna, Custer Co., Neb., where they determined to spend the remainder of their days on earth. Here by almost superhuman energy they made for themselves a nice little home from whence she passed to the spirit life Jan. 15, 1896, aged 66 years, 2 months and 12 days. She was ready to go, feeling sure that the thread of life would not be broken, that she had only received the summons to come up higher. Mr. and Mrs. White were firm advocates of Spiritualism for the past forty years and she passed away triumphant in the knowledge that there is no death. TO MR. WHITE. Grieve not lonely heart For the dear one departed To the realms of eternal day. We all are as flowers Untamed on the prairie, Till transplanted to sunny May. The river of death with its Legends so dreary, Is a tiny stream after all, And our loved that pass over, Are not distant from us., For love responds to its call.
