Read More	Fairfield Tribune Jan. 3, 1900 Pg. 7, Col. 4 Obituary Mrs. Phoebe Walton Horn, was born in Washington county, Pa., October 30, 1829, where she was brought up into a noble Christian womanhood. August 9th, 1847, she was married to Mr. John Horn, who preceeded her to the eternal home February 27, 1897. Eight children were born to them, five of whom are living: namely, Dr. M. L. Horn, of Muscogee, Indian Territory; J. M., of Fairfield township; George R., the present efficient auditor of Jefferson county, and the Misses Lidia A., and Emma B. Horn, of this city. The latter three have had the privilege and have well improved their opportunity to add to her comfort and to sweeten these latter days of their dear mother's existence. Mrs. Horn, with her husband, moved to this country in the spring of 1855, locating on a farm six miles northwest of Fairfield, where they resided forty-two years. After the death of Mr. Horn she moved into the city, where with her son George and two daughters, she spent the rest of her days in their pleasant and comfortable home, until God called her to join loved ones gone before, in that still better home, where with them she is waiting to welcome the remaining loved ones by-and-by. Mother Horn was an acceptable member of the Lutheran church, and though during recent years ill health prevented her from frequently attending public worship, she still loved her church, daily remembered the Lord and trusted in Him. To say the least this esteemed family has lost, by her death, a loving, selfdenying mother, the church a worthy member, and this community kind neighbor. During the past few weeks, Mrs. Horn's strength failed fast until she fell asleep in Jesus, Sunday, December 31, 8 p.m., at the age of 70 years 2 months, and 1 day. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. W. J. Funkey, at her late residence on East Briggs street, Tuesday January 2nd.
