Ranva Gena Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hans Johnson, pioneer residents of Union county, S.D., was born in Sioux Valley Township, Union County, July 8, 1875. She was united in marriage with Gilbert M. Lewison on May 3, 1899, in the St. Paul Lutheran Church. Four sons and one daughter came to bless their union. They lived on a farm seven miles northwest of town, except for the period from 1910 to 1925, when they resided in Akron. Mr. Lewison preceded her in death on December 12, 1935, since which time she had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Finzen. Left to mourn her departure are three sons and one daughter, Harley Lewison, of Akron; Gordon Lewison, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Curtis Lewison and Mrs. Rozelle Finzen, of Akron; also 16 grandchildren; a sister, Miss Lena Johnson, of Sioux City, and a brother, Ed. O. Johnson, of Akron. Mrs. Lewison was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Akron. A kind and devoted wife and mother, a helpful and sympathetic neighbor, she was held in high esteem by many friends, who will sincerely miss her and who extend sympathy to the bereaved relatives. After a brief service at the Ross Funeral Chapel Monday afternoon, services were held at 2:30 o'clock in Immanuel Lutheran Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. E.G. Svenson, and Rev. C.W; Samuelson, of Marcus, Iowa, a former pastor. Acting as pallbearers were six grandsons—Ivan, Arlo and Arvin Finzen, Curtis and Richard Lewison and Darwin Lewison.
