Description	:	Raymond Bender, 88, Salisbury, Pa., was ushered into the presence of his heavenly Father on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, while at his winter residence in Sarasota, Fla. Born Sept. 29, 1920, in Springs, Pa., he was a son of the late Norman and Beulah (Yoder) Bender. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Anna Yoder, Arlene Bender, and Viola Orendorf; one great-grandson; and two step-great-grandchildren. He accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior in his youth and was a member of the Cherry Glade Mennonite Church, Accident, where he served as a deacon for many years. Raymond had a special love for children and was affectionately known as the "Candyman." He touched the lives of many people as he enjoyed various occupations and hobbies, including farming, auctioneering, and working at the Friend's Stockyards. He created children's cupboards and small rocking chairs and other woodworking projects. He had a love for painting and enjoyed attending craft shows with painted hand saws, and milk and oil cans. He loved music and enjoyed singing in choruses. Raymond was a man of integrity, loved his Lord and family, and was well-respected in the community. His life was a great example, and he will be missed by all. The family expresses their heartfelt appreciation for all the prayers, love, and concern shown to them through this time of loss.
