He the son of Lewis Garey tad Cora Patterson Garey. He had lived in Montgomery and Adam Counties most of his life. He was united in marriage to Opal Strain at Corning, December 11, 1917. He the son of Lewis Garey tad Cora Patterson Garey. He had lived in Montgomery and Adam Counties most of his life. He was united in marriage to Opal Strain at Corning, December 11, 1917. He was veteran of World War I, a member of the Nodaway Saddle Club and for over 25 years was a hog buyer. Two years ago, the family moved from Nodaway to their present home in Villisca. He was preceded in death by his parents, two. brothers, two sisters and a grandson. Surviving are his wife and seven children, Mrs. Merrill (Maxine) Hoifner, Shawnee, Kansas, Mrs. Glen (Dorothy) Odson of Lacox, Mrs. Ward (Pauline) Wheeler of Villisca, Robert Garey of Lenexa, Kansas, Mrs. Merle (Lola) Odson of Villisca, Bill Garey of Villisca, and Mrs. Tom (Virginia) Simet of Spencer; a sister, Hattie Chapman of Messena; a brother Glen Garey of Des Moines. 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren and other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Eldon Haworth. Interment was in the Nodaway Cemetery. Adams County Free Press, June 29, 1972, page 7
