Description	:	Raymond F. Buchholz, 90, of Denver, Iowa passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at his grandson's residence in Evansdale, Iowa. Raymond Frederick Buchholz was born on February 19, 1922, the son of Fred J. and Adele (Drape) Buchholz in rural Tripoli, Iowa. He attended Warren #9 country school up to the 8th grade. Buchholz, 90, of Denver, Iowa passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at his grandson's residence in Evansdale, Iowa. Raymond Frederick Buchholz was born on February 19, 1922, the son of Fred J. and Adele (Drape) Buchholz in rural Tripoli, Iowa. He attended Warren #9 country school up to the 8th grade. He then worked on the farm with his parents. He entered the US Army in January 5, 1943, serving with the 3818th Quartermaster Gas Supply in New Guinea. On February 7, 1943, he was united in marriage to Lucille R. Lorenz at Trinity American Lutheran Church in Waterloo. Ray continued with the Army until his discharge on January 8, 1946. Following the service he worked at John Deere for a year and in 1948 starting farming the farmstead in rural Waverly. In 1973, he retired from farming and the couple moved into Denver. Raymond was then employed at CMC construction in Waterloo for 5 years and then worked for the City of Denver for 5 years. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ – Siegel in rural Waverly; American Legion Post of Denver and the VFW of Tripoli. Raymond enjoyed fishing, playing cards and being with his friends. Survivors are his son, Richard (Elaine) Buchholz of Denver, Iowa; daughter, Diane (Jim) Peters of Waterloo, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Darin Buchholz, Nathan Buchholz, Jamie Peters, Christopher Peters, Danielle Peters, Jonathan Peters and Dominic Peters; and twelve great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife, Lucille Buchholz on February 12, 2003. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 10:30 am at St. John's United Church of Christ – Siegel rural Waverly with Pastor Eugene Walther officiating. Burial will in Harlington Cemetery in Waverly. Friends may call from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at the Funeral Home in Denver and also an hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.
