Description	:	Reginald James Whitman, only son of James and Emily Davis Whitman, was born at Devauden Green in the county of Mammouthshire, England, May 31, 1890, and departed this life in Liberty Township of Republic County, Kansas, September 8, 1952, at the age of 62 years, 3 months, and 10 days. Mr. Whitman was educated in the English school system, and at the age of 19, emigrated to America in the spring of 1909. He came and lived among the people of the area around Chester with the Ed Davis family 43 years ago and was united in marriage... Read More	Reginald James Whitman, only son of James and Emily Davis Whitman, was born at Devauden Green in the county of Mammouthshire, England, May 31, 1890, and departed this life in Liberty Township of Republic County, Kansas, September 8, 1952, at the age of 62 years, 3 months, and 10 days. Mr. Whitman was educated in the English school system, and at the age of 19, emigrated to America in the spring of 1909. He came and lived among the people of the area around Chester with the Ed Davis family 43 years ago and was united in marriage to Mabel Elsie Larkins on March 28, 1914. To this union there are 4 living sons. They are Ben J., Harry E., Claude E. and Paul E. Reginald James Whitman was christened and confirmed in the Episcopal Church of his native England at Llanbadoc, Usk. At the time of his death he was a member of the Christian Church of Chester having been received into membership as a young man during the ministry of C. Cobbey. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Robert John, and two sisters, Louise, and Millie. He is survived by the wife of the home; his sons: Ben of Corona Del Mar, Calif., Harry of Costa Mesa, Calif., Claude of Red Cloud, Nebr. and Paul of Anchorage, Alaska; nine grandchildren; 3 sisters, Dorothy, Evelyn and Frieda, their husbands and children all of England; and an aunt, Mrs. Winnie Davis and family of Chester. Funeral services were conducted from the Chester Christian Church Saturday afternoon, September 13, Rev. George Randall officiating. Mrs. Melvin Crouse, Mrs. Paul Dry, E.A. Moxham and Ray Truss furnished the music, accompanied by Mrs. Truss. Pallbearers were Floyd Coons, Elmer Bartak, Orval Stephenson, Leonard Stephenson, Horace Wilkes, Jr. and Elmer Rundus. Burial was in the Chester Cemetery.
