William Burrack Funeral services for Rev. WUliam Burrack, 96, will be held Wednesday, April 21 (today), at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Waverly with the Revs. Mark N. Gravdal and and Oliver E. Johnson officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. in Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello. Rev. William Burrack of Waverly died Saturday, April 17, at the Bartels Lutheran Home in Waverly where he had been a resident since 1987. He was born on June 6, 1896 in Castle Grove Township, Jones County, near Monticello, the son of John and Angeline Zimmerman Burrack. He attended country school and in 1910 went to the Wartburg Academy for his pre-theological study graduating in 1914 and then to the Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque, graduating in 1917. He was ordained on July 15, 1917 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Monticello. On July 11,1918, Rev. Burrack was united in marriage to Anna Cordelia Ricklefs at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. They served the following parishes: a four-church parish ministry at Danzig, N.D., rural Danzig, Gluecksthal, rural Streeter and rural Napoleon from 1917 to 1922. They then served at Rosebud, N.D. and Center, N.D. from 1922 to 1927, at Bancroft, and Belle Prairie, S.D. from 1927 to 1935, and then churches at Hartford and rural Hartford, S.D., and established a congregation in Sioux Falls, S.D. between 1935 and 1942. They then served at churches in Parkston and rural Parkston, S .D. from 1942 to 1946 when they moved to Maxfield Twp., near Denver, Iowa, where they served at Maxfield and at Bennington Township, near Dunkerton, from 1946 to 1967. His wife died on April 24, 1961, and Rev. Burrack continued serving until his retirement on January 1,1968. On Dec. 26,1967, Rev. Burrack was united in marriage to Charlotte Huebsch Fritschel at the Lutheran Church in Sioux City. They moved to Monticello for one year and then moved to Waverly where they have sincelived. Rev. Burrack was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Waverly and was the oldest clergy member of the Northeastern Iowa Synod and had celebrated his 75th year of ordination in 1992. Rev. Burrack is survived by bis wife, Charlotte, their children and spouses: Louis J. Burrack of Anamosa, Rev. Richard and Lois Kehren Burrack of Audubon, Marilyn and Dr. Roger Fjeld of Dubuque, Margaret Fritschel and Lloyd Dobroth of Round Lake Beach, Ill., and Ruth Fritschel Janssen of Worcester, Mass., and by 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Henry and Lewis Burrack and two sisters, Anna Burrack Willms and Augusta Burrack, and a grandson, Mark Richard Burrack
