Description	:	Robert was born June 25, 1931 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the son of Ralph and Catharine (Coulter) Kleese. Robert graduated from Washington High School in 1949 and later graduated from Iowa State University. On September 4, 1954 he was united in marriage to Donna G. Patterson in Washington, Iowa. Bob was a life long resident of Washington where he farmed in the Washington community. He is a Veteran of the Korean Conflict where he served in the United States Navy as a Medical Corpsman attached to the Marine Corps. Robert graduated from Washington High School in 1949 and later graduated from Iowa State University. On September 4, 1954 he was united in marriage to Donna G. Patterson in Washington, Iowa. Bob was a life long resident of Washington where he farmed in the Washington community. He is a Veteran of the Korean Conflict where he served in the United States Navy as a Medical Corpsman attached to the Marine Corps. During his time in the service, Bob was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Bob served on the Washington Community School Board in the 1960's. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and was active in the church choir. Bob was an avid sports fan who enjoyed baseball, basketball and football. He was a great conversationalist and enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Robert is survived by two daughters, Lisette (Marlin) Peiffer of Washington, Iowa; Jennifer (Robert) Kleese-Surles of Boulder, Colorado; one son, John (Susan) Kleese of Washington, Iowa; and five grandchildren including Alexander R. Surles, Nicholas Kleese, Courtney Kleese, Nathan Kleese and Madalyn Kleese. He is also survived by two brothers, William (Karen) Kleese of Washington, Iowa; Roger (Linda) Kleese of St. Michael, Minnesota; and one sister, Harriett (Garth) Rustan of Washington, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Donna in 1990; and an infant sister. Age 75 years.
