However, his obituary published and transcribed verbatim (see below) indicates that he was "a native of Jefferson county". A DOB is reportedly given as Sep. 25, 1842 in Louisa county, Iowa, but that cannot be confirmed with birth records (Iowa didn't have birth records until 1880), so family researcher should use Ancestry tree hints and entries with caution. It was transcribed correctly by Deborah Brownfield on Feb. 12, 2005: Fairfield Ledger Sept. 27, 1899 Page 3 col. 2 ROBERT HARRISON died at the home of his daughter, MRS. HENRY ADKINS, in this city Saturday evening, from typho malarial fever. He had been ill two or three weeks. MR. HARRISON was a native of Jefferson County and about fifty-five years of age. He was a soldier of the Civil War, a member of Company E, Thirtieth Iowa Infantry. His remains were interred Sunday, the funeral being in charge of GEO. STRONG Post, G. A. R. -------- Note: Married in Jefferson county, Iowa on Nov. 19, 1863 to Mary Ann Kirk (Marriage license # 2328, John Burgess - M.E. Min.), then to Henrietta Miller on September 13, 1866 (Marriage license # 2786, Test. S W. Miller the lady's father; J.W. Ellis J.P.). Some Ancestry family trees incorrectly have used "Iowa City, Wright, Iowa" for the marriage location, instead of in Jefferson county, Iowa (not necessarily in the city of Fairfield, the county seat, however). --------- Updates: June 3, 2012 - The burial location of Robert's first wife Mary Ann Kirk Harrison isn't known to Jefferson county genealogists. They were later divorced; it isn't known if she remarried and buried elsewhere in Iowa.
