He was born April 4, 1893, at Hastings, Iowa to Racheal Roxanna Hoyt and Charles Walter Stroud. He grew up in the North Grove community, south of Hastings. He farmed for a number of years around the Malvern and Glenwood area, and was in business in Malvern for some time. He was united in marriage to Floy Hixson Jan. 24, 1916, and to this union six children were born. One daughter Wilma preceded him in death. He was born April 4, 1893, at Hastings, Iowa to Racheal Roxanna Hoyt and Charles Walter Stroud. He grew up in the North Grove community, south of Hastings. He farmed for a number of years around the Malvern and Glenwood area, and was in business in Malvern for some time. He was united in marriage to Floy Hixson Jan. 24, 1916, and to this union six children were born. One daughter Wilma preceded him in death. Fifteen yeers ago he moved to Dade City, Florida , where he worked for the State Park and Forestry. Robert and Floy celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary four years ago, here at the Malvern church. He was a member of the Baptist Ohurch and the Malvern Silver Urn Lodge 234, A. F. & A. M. Survivors include his wife of Dade City, four daughters: Mrs. John (Ila) Christensen, Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Howard (Irma) Hunt, Perkville, Mo.; Mrs. William (Betty)Summers, Dade City, Fla.; and Mrs. George (Fern) Benesch, Schuyler, Nebr.; one son: Robert Leland Stroud, Glenwood; 18 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral scuvices were held at the Mansfield Funeral Hcme Saturday, Oct. 17, at 1 p. m., the Rev.Howard Mace, officiant. Casket bearers were Bernard Robinson, Daniel Stineman, Darrell Frederickson, Dale Stephens, William Hartiff and Charles Costello. Caring for the flowers were Mrs. W. C. Vanderpdol, Mrs. Torn Rubenking, and Mrs. Dab AHensworth. Music was furnished by Mrs. Willam Blackburn, organist, and Mrs. Charles Costello, soloist. Interment was in the Malvern Cemetery Malvern Leader, Thursday, October 22, 1970
