He grew up in Plattsmouth, graduating from Plattsmouth High School in 1933, and married Doris Creamer Feb. 1 1941, at Plattsmouth. He worked in California for the Bank of America after graduation, returning to Nebraska where he worked for B. F. Goodrich Company and at Martin Bomber Plant during World War II. July 23, 1990 (excerpts from Plattsmouth Journal) Robert William Hirz was born March 28, 1915, in Plattsmouth, son of John and Louise Blotzer Hirz. He grew up in Plattsmouth, graduating from Plattsmouth High School in 1933, and married Doris Creamer Feb. 1 1941, at Plattsmouth. He worked in California for the Bank of America after graduation, returning to Nebraska where he worked for B. F. Goodrich Company and at Martin Bomber Plant during World War II. He was employed by Warner Brothers for 35 years, as a film distribution branch manager for part of that time, retiring in 1980. He served two terms on the Plattsmouth School Board in the 1960s and was chairman of the Board of Public Works at the time of his death Monday, July 23, 1990, at Clarkson Hospital, Omaha, at the age of 75. He was also an elder and deacon at First Presbyterian Church, and was serving as worthy patron of Eastern Star Chapter 189 this year. He was a member of Plattsmouth Lodge No. 6 AF&AM, Nebraska Chapter No. 3 Royal Arch Masons, Adoniram Council No. 5 Royal Secret Masters, Mt Zion Commandary Knights Templar, Tangier Temple of Omaha Shrine. The funeral was held Wed., July 25, at 10:30 am at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Bob Bye officiating. Eloise Jacobs was organist. Pallbearers were John Blotzer, Richard Fischer, Thomas Hirz, John Speck, Emerson Wiles and Roger Wehrbein. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Kathy Hirz of Gillette, WY; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jo and Dr. Richard Osterholm, Bellevue, NE; sister Mrs. Jeanette Slavicek, Plattsmouth; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Howard "Hob" Hirz.
