Rue was born October 23, 1917, in Underwood, Iowa, to the late Oscar H. and Mabel F. (Driver) Hough. He married LaVerna Nelson on March 6, 1943, in Omaha. They were blessed with six children, Mickey, Ted, Larry, Denny, JoAnn, and Patsy. Rue was a truck driver and owned Rue Hough Trucking for 10 years. Hough, age 92, of Council Bluffs, passed away March 18, 2010, at Woodlands Rehabilitation Center. Rue was born October 23, 1917, in Underwood, Iowa, to the late Oscar H. and Mabel F. (Driver) Hough. He married LaVerna Nelson on March 6, 1943, in Omaha. They were blessed with six children, Mickey, Ted, Larry, Denny, JoAnn, and Patsy. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Alcorn, June Jensen and Honor Stange. Rue is survived by his wife of 67 years, LaVerna Hough, of Council Bluffs; daughters, JoAnn Petry and finacee' Doug Van Winkle, Patsy (Richard) Swig, all of Council Bluffs; sons, Mickey (Aileen) Hough, of Honey Creek, Ted (Mary Jo) Hough, Denny (Diana) Hough, all of Council Bluffs, Larry (Janet) Hough, of Dunlap, Iowa; 15 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren; sister, Virginia (H. Franklin) Hemmingsen, of Council Bluffs; nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family, Saturday, 1:30 to 3 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 3 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Rev. Melvin Claassen and Rev. Jim Henry will co-officiate. A lunch will follow in UMBA Hall in Underwood, Iowa. Memorials to the church preferred. The body has been cremated; no viewing.
