They was in charge of the services with burial in the Villisca Cemetery. Russell V. Higgins, son of Louis and Martha Willett Higgins, was born July 12, 1898 and was 49 years old at the time of his death. He was united in marriage with Lola A. Frank if Red Oak on February 18, 1917 and they established their home in Villisca where he was employed by the Burlington Railroad for five years as baggageman after which he farmed in this vicinity three years. In 1926 he attended barber college in Des Moines and worked at that trade in Denison, Iowa until 1942 when he opened a shop in Scranton, Iowa and later in Jefferson, Iowa. Three moths ago he discontinued barbering, upon the advice of physicians and was operating a clothing store in Hawarden when he became ill. He was taken to the hospital there November 17 and December 15 he was taken to the hospital in Council Bluffs where he died. His death resulted from a paralytic stroke. He was preceded in death by his parents, buy his sister, Mrs. J. L. Palmquist of Villisca. Surviving are his wife and three children, Mrs. Pearl Sick, LeMars, Iowa, George Higgins, Dennison, and Mrs. Opal LeSourd, Portsmouth, Iowa. There are also four grandchildren and three brothers, Frank and George Higgins of Villisca, Ray of Odebolt, Iowa and two sisters, Mrs. Lena Hull of Lorimor, Iowa, and Mrs. Ethel Moore, Washington, Iowa.
