Arthur Mortenson, pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Villisca officiating. Interment was in the Villisca Cemetery. Mrs. Higgins died at her home at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, following a stroke of apoplexy. Mrs. H. H. Nordyke and Mrs. L. W. Scott sang for the services and pall bearers were Carl and Clark Palmquist, George Higgins, Jr., F. Glen Garey, Howard Sterns, and Harold Higgins. Martha Lodema Willett, daughter of Mr. and MRs. James Willett was born January 1, 1852, at Hillsboro, Ohio. She was united in marriage with Lewis H. Higgins, September 3, 1883, who preceded her in death in January 1929. One son, Lewis, also preceded her in death. About 35 years ago Mrs. Higgins united with the Villisca Disciples of Christ Church where she attended when able to do so. She leaves eight children, 31 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren. The children, all of whom live in Iowa and were present at the funeral services are Mrs. Mary Wade of Mapleton, Frank and George and Mrs. Grace Palmquist of Villisca, Mrs. Lena Hill of Lorimor, Ray Higgins of Woodbine, Mrs. Ethel Moore of Maxwell, and Russell Higgins of Denison. She died April 21, 1935 in Villisca, Iowa of cerebral hemmorrhage, F. S. William, M. D., Burial April 24, 1935. Informant was Grace Palmquist.
