Description	:	Hood Rites Tomorrow Mrs. Ruth Helen Hood, 67, wife of Roy M. Hood, died at 4:27 o'clock yesterday morning at the Atchison hospital where she had been a patient since last Tuesday night. Read More	Hood Rites Tomorrow Mrs. Ruth Helen Hood, 67, wife of Roy M. Hood, died at 4:27 o'clock yesterday morning at the Atchison hospital where she had been a patient since last Tuesday night. She suffered a stroke Tuesday afternoon about 5 o'clock at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Sawin & Dyer chapel. The Rev. J. Preston Gregory, pastor of the Rushville Christian church, will officiate. Burial will be in the family lot at Oak Hill cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight at the funeral home from 7 to 9 o'clock. A daughter of Benjamin and Millie Jennings Boyles, Mrs. Hood was born Aug. 3, 1896, in Atchison. Her father was employed by the state and county highway department. She attended the public elementry schools and Atchison High school. Jan. 29, 1917, she was united in marriage to Roy Hood in Atchison. They made their home here until moving to Sugar Lake upon his retirement as an employee of Pillsbury Co., in May 1959. Mr. Hood was superindendent of the Pillsbury flour mill here and was the company's second employee in Atchison, being preceded only by the late J.G. Syphers. His total service with the company was 37 years. Mrs. Hood was a member of the Rushville Christian church. Besides her husband she leaves two daughters,Mrs. Albert (Ruby) Hinz, Lancaster, and Mrs. Norman (Maxine) McAsey, Abilene, a son Leroy E. Hood, superintendent of schools at Garden City; a granddaughter and eight grandsons. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Hood was a gracious, kind, and generous person who was devoted to her family and friends. She was ever mindful of the needs of others and performed many thoughtful acts. She was held in loving esteem by her neighbors and all who knew her. The Atchison Daily Globe 2 February 1964 Sun.
