Ruth Garst Craig, daughter of John W. and Barbara Bashor Garst was born March 3, 1912, northwest of Jonesborough, Washington County, Tennessee. She was in a family of four brothers, Arlie, Ray, Elmer and Clyde. She attended a little one room country school. After Completing eight grades she attended Sulpher Springs High School. Ruth Garst Craig, daughter of John W. and Barbara Bashor Garst was born March 3, 1912, northwest of Jonesborough, Washington County, Tennessee. She was in a family of four brothers, Arlie, Ray, Elmer and Clyde. She attended a little one room country school. After Completing eight grades she attended Sulpher Springs High School. Ruth has always had a love for music. She and two younger brothers did a lot of singing and entertaining of church groups. She was married to Albert Craig, June 24, 1931, by Rev. Howell in his home at Sulpher Springs. They immediately came to Iowa to farm and make their home. Two children came to complete their home, Carolyn Joyce and Gary Roger and later they welcomed her nephew, Danny Garst, her brother Elmer's youngest son into their home. He has been very special to her family ever since. She is preceded in death by her husband, father, mother and all four brothers. Survivors include Joyce Carnes and husband Jim of Glenwood, Iowa; Roger and wife Patricia Craig of Galeton, Colorado; Danny Garst and wife Peggy of Tabor, Iowa; two grandsons, two granddaughters, one great granddaughter.
