Description	:	Sarah Ann Carey was born in Marion county, Ohio, September 24, 1852 and moved with her parents to Michigan in 1854. At the age of 12 years, in 1864 they removed to Iowa, where she grew to womanhood. She was married to Marcus T. Odell, in 1872 in Benton county, Iowa and came to Kansas in 1879 with their three children, a daughter, Millie H., having died in infancy. They lived four miles west of Oak Hill, and here two more children were born, Millie A. and Walter H., the latter dying in infancy. The husband died in 1886 after... Read More	Sarah Ann Carey was born in Marion county, Ohio, September 24, 1852 and moved with her parents to Michigan in 1854. At the age of 12 years, in 1864 they removed to Iowa, where she grew to womanhood. She was married to Marcus T. Odell, in 1872 in Benton county, Iowa and came to Kansas in 1879 with their three children, a daughter, Millie H., having died in infancy. They lived four miles west of Oak Hill, and here two more children were born, Millie A. and Walter H., the latter dying in infancy. The husband died in 1886 after a long illness, at the age of 37 years. The family remained on this farm until 1894, when they moved to a farm two miles south of Longford and lived there until 1899 when she moved in town, where she remained until the time of her death, August 6, 1915. She leaves one sister, Mrs. Havil Hart of Victor, Iowa, three brothers, T. A. Carey, of LeRoy, Kansas, Charles of Ladora, Iowa and Joseph of Alliance, Neb.; two sons and two daughters, O. P. Odell of Gurnsey, Wyoming, Owen Odell of Alliance, Neb., Mrs. J. F. Wolf, Mrs. A. B. Baringer of this town, and nine grandchildren. All of the children except O. D. were with her at the time of her death. Burial was in Rose Meron Cemetery. (Longford Leader, Aug. 12, 1915)
