Description	:	Montezuma Republican (8 Aug. 1922) Montezuma, Poweshiek Co., Ia.: January 6, 1841, in Muskingum county, Ohio there was born a daughter, Sarah Jane to Wm. and Ann Mace. She shared in this home with six brothers and sisters and in 1863 was married to John Strader. He was enlisted under the Stars and Stripes and died in the Southland. She returned to her father's home in Montezuma with her infant daughter, Hattie. February 25, 1869, she married Levi Walker Ferneau with whom she lived until Mr. Ferneau passed away in Feb. 1915. ... She returned to her father's home in Montezuma with her infant daughter, Hattie. February 25, 1869, she married Levi Walker Ferneau with whom she lived until Mr. Ferneau passed away in Feb. 1915. She confessed Christ and united with the M. E. church of Montezuma keeping her faith in a living God until she was called home July 26, 1922, aged 78 years, 6 months, 20 days. There remain of her loved ones, two sisters, seven children, 19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. ------------------------------------------- There is an error in the obituary about the name of Sarah's first husband. He was Daniel Strader whom Sarah married 16 Aug 1862 in Monroe, Green Co., WI. He died 29 Jul 1863 in the Columbus, Hickman Co., KY hospital of Typhoid Fever while serving in the Union Army. Their daughter, Harriet, was born in Poweshiek Co., IA after his death. It is unknown at this time where Daniel is buried but I assume it is in KY. although his Civil War pension file doesn't say.
