Description	:	Silas Summer Shippy, one of four children of Saleda David Shippy and Mary Jane Bond, was born at Hersey MI, Sept. 15, 1880 and passed away at Lamoni Iowa on Dec. 1, 1966, after an illness of about a year. Silas and Harriett Powell were united in marriage in Lamoni Iowa and of this union were born four children, Dorothy Oliver of Ukiah, CA,;Bond of Federal Way, WA; two sons, Carl David and Ralph, and his wife Harriett, preceded him in death. Read More	Silas Summer Shippy, one of four children of Saleda David Shippy and Mary Jane Bond, was born at Hersey MI, Sept. 15, 1880 and passed away at Lamoni Iowa on Dec. 1, 1966, after an illness of about a year. Silas and Harriett Powell were united in marriage in Lamoni Iowa and of this union were born four children, Dorothy Oliver of Ukiah, CA,;Bond of Federal Way, WA; two sons, Carl David and Ralph, and his wife Harriett, preceded him in death. He spent his early years in Lamoni and was baptized into the RLDS church at a young age. As a young man he worked at the Herald office in Lamoni, then was employed as a railway mail clerk and lived in St. Joseph, MO and Kansas City MO. He was married to Mae Ross on Feb. 4, 1948 and had resided in Lamoni since that time. He was a Past Master of Fayette Lodge No. 571 and enjoyed his office as Lodge Secretary. Left to mourn his passing, besides his wife Mae, are a daughter, Dorothy, a son Bond; stepsons, Louis Ross, John Ross and Richard Ross; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Stewart's Funeral home at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4, 1966, conducted by Elder Morton Edmunds and Elder Leo Stevenson, followed by a Masonic service at the cemetery, conducted by Kenneth Mitchell of Garden Grove, IA. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Lamoni.
