Description	:	Funeral services were held recently from Emmanuel Lutheran church for Mrs. Henry Hansen, 79, who died at the home of here son-in-law and daughter (Louis and Ella Hansen Thiede) the Resort reports. Casket bearers were 6 grandsons: Leo Hansen, Clement Thiede, Richard Kraus, Earl Ossenkop, Louise Thiede and Ivan Kracht. Burial was in Schleswig cemetery. Sophia Caroline Carstens was born 24 Nov 1871 in Arensdorft Kreis, Husum, Germany. She was the 3rd of 5 children born to Mr. and Mrs. William Carstens. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith in early infancy. At the age of 2 she came to this country with her parents. They settled on a farm near Davenport. Several years later they moved to a farm near Denison, where Sophia grew to womanhood. On 15 Mar 1894, she was married to Henry B Hansen of Denison, and 3 children were born to this union. The family lived on farms in Crawford and Ida counties until 1925 when they moved to Morgan, MN where he was engaged in the lumber business for 23 years. Sophia became ill during the past year and was confined to her bed during most of the post 6 months. She died Friday 5 Oct 1951 in the home of her daughter. She is survived by her husband Henry, her daughter Ella of Lake View, son August Hansen of Minneapolis and son William Hansen of Los Angeles CA. Also surviving are sister Mrs Henry Lafrentz of Dow City and brother William Carstens of Denison, and 10 grandchildren and 9 Great-grandchildren.
