Read More	Daughter of John Thompson Martin Ellen Catherine Schow Elana Sapp, age 93, died peacefully, surrounded by family, Saturday night March 21, 2009 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Kathleen Sapp. She had battled with congenital heart disease for over 30 years. Susannah Elana Martin was born in Escalante, Utah, on October 2, 1915. When she was young her family moved to Marysville, Calif. in a horse-drawn wagon. On June 2, 1936 she married Ralph Gordon Sapp at the Little Church Around the Corner in Reno, Nevada. Through their journey of life together they owned three dairy farms, a cattle ranch, a commercial fishing boat, and an upholstery business, yet she never had a driver's license. She loved gardening and fishing and was very creative with crochet and embroidery. She always looked forward to her favorite weekly meeting, playing cards with her special friends who called themselves the "Game Hens". Elana was a woman with much faith and a servant's heart; for twenty years she prepared the Sunday morning coffee and cookies for the congregation at Abundant Life Fellowship. Her gift for baking the perfect pie was a highlight of all family gatherings. One of her famous banana cream pies sold for $25 at the church auction! Elana was preceded in death by her son, Robert; husband, Ralph; and all six of her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her three sons and daughters-in laws; twelve grandchildren, and twenty five great grandchildren. Elana spent a lifetime caring for others, whether it was family or strangers. There was always room for another plate at the table or a warm bed for a "stray" in need. Her belief in family and her quite strength will remain a moving force in the lives of all she touched and loved. She leaves behind a legacy built on a foundation of hard work, faith, and love of family. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, March 27th, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Eagle Cliff Grange in Curlew, WA. Arrangements by Bergh Funeral Service, 509-476-3572. Remembrances may be made in honor of Elana Sapp to our local hospital, Mid Valley Hospital (509-826-1760), 810 Jasmine Street, Omak, WA 98841 or Amedisys Hospice Services (509-422-6721), care of Christen Foundation 5959 Sherwood Forest Blvd. Baton Rouge, LA 70816.
