Burial was in Simmons Ridge Cemetery. She was married to John H. Stenger, November 3, 1887. Three children were born to this union, William E. Stenger, B. M. Stenger and Mrs. Helen Winings, all of whom survive, as does one brother, J. T. Simmons, of Kilgore, Ohio. She was a life-long member of the Simmons Ridge Church. Her obituary in the Carroll Journal, Carrollton, Ohio, Thursday, February 27, 1936. Mrs. Thersa (Simmons) Stenger, 71, wife of John Stenger of Simmons Ridge, near Amsterdam, died of complications, Monday, February 24 at her home. She had been ill for a week. She was born on February 7, 1865 on the farm near where she had lived. On November 3, 1887 she was married to Mr. Stenger. She was a member of the Simmons Ridge Methodist Episcopal Church and Amsterdam Grange. Besides her husband she leaves three children, William, Bert and Mrs. Mary Helen Winings, all of near Amsterdam, and five grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held on Wednesday at 2 p.m., at the home and at 2:30 p.m., at the Simmons Methodist Church with Rev. R. J. Smith in charge. Interment was made at Simmons Ridge Cemetery.
