Description	:	Thomas ALLRED was the son of Solomon ALLRED I and his wife Ann YORK, sister of Jeremiah YORK I. No one has documented when or where Thomas ALLRED was born. Most likely it was in West Nottingham, Chester County, Pennsylvania because we know his father, Solomon ALLRED I was living there based on the tax records. But, again, that is just a guess. Read More	Thomas ALLRED was the son of Solomon ALLRED I and his wife Ann YORK, sister of Jeremiah YORK I. No one has documented when or where Thomas ALLRED was born. Most likely it was in West Nottingham, Chester County, Pennsylvania because we know his father, Solomon ALLRED I was living there based on the tax records. But, again, that is just a guess. Most likely it was in the mid 1720’s but that is purely a guess based on the birth of his oldest child. It is believed but not documented that Thomas ALLRED most likely had migrated westward into Frederick County, Maryland where his brother William ALLRED had purchased land. This most likely was on Antietam Creek near the Potomac River where other Allred families and friends most likely lived. His older brother, William ALLRED, owned land there but that does not mean Thomas ALLRED ever lived there but it is a good probability that these ALLRED families stayed together. The Antietam Creek area in 2016 is a highly desirable camp grounds for boy scouts and campers. It is a clean and beautiful area for those using tents with bicycles or hiking gear for trekking, swimming, fishing, tubing the Antietam Creek and building campfires over looking the Potomac River. However, genealogist Dennis York believes it is very likely that the wife of Thomas ALLRED was Sarah 'Elizabeth' YORK, daughter of Jeremiah YORK I. Jeremiah YORK I and Solomon ALLRED I were good friends and neighbors back in Chester County, Pennsylvania per the 1724 Tax List. It is proposed but not documented that in about 1752 in Terrapin Neck, Colonial Frederick County, Virginia (now Jefferson County, West Virginia) that Sarah 'Elizabeth' York age eighteen married her neighbor Thomas ALLRED age about twenty seven. These same families later all lived in the same Sandy Creek Community of what is today Randolph County, North Carolina. Once in North Carolina, the Solomon ALLRED I and Jeremiah YORK I lands bordered each other, so they remained neighbors and friends. No one has found any documentation to prove or disprove who Thomas Allred’s wife was or when or where they married. People see the will of Thomas ALLRED which names his wife Elizabeth, may assume Elizabeth was his only wife. "No one knows who Thomas’ wife was or what her name was (because of the lack of documentation). Yes, there are lots of family histories that claim she was Elizabeth Twiggs but that has not been proven either. She may have been named Elizabeth Twiggs – I don’t know. No one knows. No documentation has been found." No records of Randolph County have ever revealed the existence of a Twiggs family living there....Linda Allred Cooper. It is suggested the first daughter Sarah ALLRED was not listed in her fathers will because she had already received her inheritance before the will of 1809. It is believed by genealogist Dennis York that daughter Sarah ALLRED was likely named after Thomas ALLRED's proposed wife Sarah 'Elizabeth' YORK. There are land transactions recorded between Jeremiah YORK III and Thomas ALLRED that supports this scenario. Furthermore, Genealogist Dawnell Hatton Griffin is convinced Sarah ALLRED (Sarah Lydia Esther ALLRED, #148758219) who married Jeremiah YORK III (# 147641371) is the daughter of the brother Solomon Allred III and his wife Mary Hays. Therefore, I am honoring her scenario out of my respect for her years of excellent Allred research. The nine children of Thomas ALLRED per his will of 1809 are listed below; however it is believed there was a tenth child, Eli ALLRED. 1. James ALLRED, b. 1753 VA. 2. Levi ALLRED, b. 1754 NC; d. 1856 GA 3. Sarah ALLRED, b. 1755 NC; d. ? NC (Refer to comments above for Sarah ALLRED) 4. William ALLRED, b. 1756 NC; d. 1849 NC 5. Elias B "Eli" ALLRED, b. 1758 NC; d. 1840 GA 6. John ALLRED, b. 1760 NC; d. 1856 NC 7. Rachael ALLRED, b. 1762 NC; d. 1841 NC 8. Moses ALLRED, b. 1764 NC; d. 1877 GA 9. Elizabeth ALLRED, b. 1769 NC; d. 1848 NC 10. Eli ALLRED, b. 1770 NC; d. 1834 NC Following the French and Indian War of July 1755 the Jeremiah York family with children and in laws migrated into colonial Orange county(now Randolph County), North Carolina. It is believed but not documented that Sarah 'Elizabeth' York and Thomas Allred family were part of that 1755 wagon train migration into North Carolina traveling with her parents. It is believed that Thomas ALLRED had already made earlier trips from Virginia down to the Sandy Creek Community in Colonial North Carolina to locate land, perhaps built a log cabin and secured a land grant suitable to move his family into. Note: 1. This above relationship is only a proposed scenario based on dates, geography and long time family friendships and frequent intermarriages of York's and Allred's. It is also noted by researchers that there is no evidence of an Elizabeth Twiggs or a Twiggs family ever existing in Randolph County, North Carolina. It is well documented that the Allred and York families intermarried in several generations and all lived in the Sandy Creek Community on adjacent Land Grants along Sandy Creek. It much more logical and probable to accept a scenario that the wife of Thomas Allred was his neighbor Elizabeth York. 2. There is a considerable confusion among researchers with William ALLRED born in 1732 and his wife Elizabeth DIFFEE. 3. Many Thanks to my long time friend and cousin Linda Allred Copper for a phone call on 14 November 2015 and email to correct my errors for the parents and documented facts of her research of Thomas Allred.∼Thomas Allred & Elizabeth (Twiggs) or (York) Allred were married in about 1752 in Randolph Co, NC. ***Please Note: Elizabeth (Sarah 'Elizabeth' YORK) or (TWIGGS) married Thomas Allred. Elizabeth Diffee married William Allred (Thomas' brother). These two lines are constantly being mixed up.
