Wallen Thomas Alpheas Wallen, son of Elias and Sarah Wallen, was born September 6, 1878, and departed this life May 15, 1933, at his home at 1216 West Second St., Grand Island, Nebraska. Wallen Thomas Alpheas Wallen, son of Elias and Sarah Wallen, was born September 6, 1878, and departed this life May 15, 1933, at his home at 1216 West Second St., Grand Island, Nebraska. Heart failure complicated by toxemia and high blood pressure was the cause of death. Although in failing health for some time his condition was not considered serious until about two weeks ago, after the extraction of several teeth when complication set in and in spite of all that medical skill could avail he failed rapidly and passed away at his home Monday, May 15, at 3:45 p.m. Tom, as he was known to his list of friends, was born near Omaha, Nebraska, and at the age of nine, moved with his parents to Clay County where he resided until coming to Grand Island about nine years ago. On December 4, 1901, he was united in marriage to Miss Grace Tolle. Two daughters were born to this union, Virginia Lucille, who preceded him in death, February 16, 1911, and Mrs. Carl Rorabaugh, of Grand Island, who with his widow survive him. He is also survived by his aged father, Elias Wallen of Grand Island, and six brothers, John, Eary and Emanuel of Edgar, Gabe of Ogallala, Elwood of O'Neill and Stephen of Grand Island. His sunny disposition and generous ways endeared him to a host of friends, who with the relatives mourn his loss. Funeral services were held from the home at 1216 West Second street at Grand Island Thursday at 1:00 p.m. Mrs. J. F. Coats and Mrs. Florence Smith were the singers at the home. Interment was made in the Edgar Cemetery Thursday afternoon. Rev. William Oeschger, pastor of the First Christian Church at Grand Island, was in charge. Singers were Mrs. Roy Cline, A. A.
