Description	:	Thomas J. Gourley, 74, a resident of this vicinity all but one year of his life, died at 1:15 p.m. Friday at his home, here on West Fourth Street. He had been ill for several years. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Villisca Methodist Church, with the Rev. Mrs. Carney, pastor of the Red Oak Christian Church in charge of the rites. McPherren, and J. P. Mortiz and burial was made in the Villisca Cemetery. Mr. Gourley’s body was taken to the Wolfe Funeral Home here where it remained until the hour of the services. Thomas J. Gourley, son to Thomas and Hester Ann Gourley was born December 8, 1858 near Villisca. With the exception of one year, he spent his entire life in East Township, moving to Villisca twelve years ago. On March 12, 1879 he was married to Laura E. Kyle at the Presbyterian parsonage in Villisca. to this union were born three children, all of whom survive. They are Mrs. C. L. Kunce, Malvern, Lewis Gourley, Henderson, Iowa, and Fletcher W. Gourley, Idaho Falls, Idaho. Besides his wife and there children, he is survived by five brothers and two sisters; J. L., L. C., R. M. and Fletcher Gourley, all of Villisca and vicinity, D. M. Gourley of Russellville, Nebraska, Mrs. Kate Bunker of Mound City, Missouri and Carrie Hyde of Red Oak. His father was Thomas Gourley, born in Pennsylvania, and his mother was Hesterann Blythe MacFarland, born in Pennsylvania. He was married to Laura Emma Kyle, and a retired farmer. He died September 22, 1933 in Villisca, Montgomery County, Iowa at the age of 74 years, 9 months, and 14 days of cardes renal vascular disease.
